'The Case for Rational Optimism' By Frank S. Robinson
Where on Earth?
Here is a wonderful read. 'Healing
The Addicted Brain' by Harold C. Urschel, III, M.D. is well written, understandably
readable, and cutting edge current. It is right in line with the
HBO special 'Addiction' offered as a link on this site.
Now we have great books, concerned authors, fabulous documentaries, medical
and therapeutic tools, you, and me to get the message out and help.
All that is needed now is governments to fund like they mean it.
Kind regards, Tony Ballatore
Welcome
This page is dedicated to those of us who are striving to grow as thinking,
feeling people. Whether you are struggling with a substance addiction,
a caregiver trying to isolate their issues from that of their clients',
or a family member or friend trying to help someone with a problem, the
videos below can help.
One of the greatest hurtles to helping someone with any problem or issue
is to get a grip on one's own problems and issues. If you can't,
they will interfere with, or overwhelm your efforts.
Regardless of how evolved and wonderful we might be, we can all use a bit
of psychological, emotional, spiritual, and social growth. As a counselor
of men in recovery, and as an educator of men and women studying to become
counselors, I have come across many people who would be good counselors
if they could just get out of the way of their own issues. I have
also counseled many individuals who would have suffered much less during
their recovery if they had addressed issues rather than coveted them.
In the same way that a muscle-bound person can't move smoothly because
of over-developed and bulky muscles, many of us can not help, or counsel
others without over-developed issues getting in the way. The first
steps in addressing this difficulty is openness and motivation.
The videos below can help each of us with our individual efforts to grow
and evolve as individuals. I hope you find something that can help
you with your efforts. In most cases, they can be fixed, or modified
if you are open to change; the chance that you might be mistaken about
this or that; desirous of growth.
If you know of a person, persons, or an organization with a video that
promotes personal growth and enlightenment, please send me an Email.
I will happily consider adding it to this page.
While you are watching these videos keep in mind that life is not a journey
to a place. It is simply a journey; a process. I hope these
offerings will help you with your journey.
Best wishes, Tony Ballatore
